Friday 16th November - final Oz post

That's it folks- Oz finished with lunch at the Pier in Cairns followed by a drink in Villa Romana on the esplanade, where WiFi access is superb ( unlike the rest of Oz!).  Taxi to airport in 20 mins and then that's us until a change of flights in Kuala Lumpur - hopefully we'll post from there sometime although not sure exactly when as we're about to go through 2 time zones!  Until then.....

Friday 16th November

So, our time in Australia draws to a close today.  We've just finished breakfast and now it's time to go back to the hotel and repack cases for the India leg of the trip.  A completely different culture awaits us and we are looking forward to seeing 'our school' and the children using it.

Blog updates may become a little sporadic given the Internet isn't available everywhere but we'll do our best so keep looking out and feel free to post your comments!

Thursday 15th November

Finally back in the land of Internet connection - just!   So, a picture of the eclipse which really does not do the event any justice but worth seeing anyway.  We'll have loads more to show once we return. The remainder of the day yesterday was spent relaxing on Fitzroy island and reflecting on the events of that morning.  We walked in the islands natural rainforest (picking up a few insect bites along the way) and generally lazed around until the afternoon tropical rain arrived and so we took refuge in the islands bar!

Today was a full day involving a return on the ferry to Cairns followed by a fantastic cable car ride over 5 miles of tropical rainforest.  We lunched at a village called Kuranda and then travelled back down to Cairns on an old railway with some great scenic spots on the way.  Dinner was at a Greek taverna involving lots of plate smashing and now it's time for bed again before our journey to India begins tomorrow afternoon!
