So today was all about the Melbourne Cup - a day when Australia virtually comes to a standstill for a few hours for a horse race. Went to the Brisbane Broncos rugby league club to have lunch and watch the race with about 200 other people! Interesting event which was mainly themed around the visit of Charles and Camilla to the race. Entered the usual sweepstakes with the usual return- zero! ....BUT, took a wild $10 punt on a 55/1 outsider which came third and paid $157 - Result!!! Now planning to spend the winnings on tomorrow's lunch with my cousin and his wife.
